I’m sure you have heard before that you need to eat breakfast to lose weight, but is it true? I’m here to tell you that it is! I know we are all short on time in the morning and suddenly breakfast becomes the last thing on your mind while rushing out the door. But just grabbing something on your way out can help you lose weight!
Why eating breakfast does make a difference:
Eating breakfast stimulates your metabolism for the rest of the day. This means you will burn more calories throughout the day. People who do not eat breakfast each morning are more likely to weigh more and have increased fat mass. This is because you are going to be starved by lunch time! People who skip breakfast end up replacing these calories during lunch and dinner, without the metabolism boost! People who do eat breakfast daily are more likely to lose weight AND most importantly, keep it off! Also, eating breakfast is good for your blood sugar. It can help keep your blood sugar from fluctuating after meals.
Obviously you will not receive these benefits from a bowl of cocoa puffs or a donut! It is important that your first meal of the day is nutritious and wholesome!
Here are a list of quick and easy breakfast foods that can help you lose weight:
1. Peanut butter on 100% whole wheat toast
2. Turkey bacon
4. Oatmeal with a tbsp of peanut butter and sprinkle of cinnamon
5. Any fruit!
6. Greek yogurt with berries
